Update Aura.
Homebrew installs update with one command. DMG installs replace Aura.app manually. She never auto-installs without your action.
When a new release is available, a small dot appears on the menu bar icon. The dot is a notification only — nothing downloads or installs until you act. Your config, local history, and selected project state are preserved across updates.
Homebrew — one command.
If you installed via the Codexini tap, updating is the standard Homebrew upgrade path. Quit Aura before upgrading to avoid file-in-use conflicts.
$brew upgrade aura
After the upgrade completes, relaunch Aura and run aura doctor to confirm the new binary is on your PATH and all checks pass.
DMG — replace Aura.app.
Download the new DMG from the releases page. Quit Aura, open the DMG, drag Aura.app into Applications and confirm the replacement when macOS prompts. Relaunch from Applications. If the new build needs first-run setup again, Aura shows the splash and setup screen before the dashboard.
Verify the download
Each release DMG lists a SHA-256 hash on the releases page. Verify it before replacing a production install: shasum -a 256 Aura.dmg. The hash must match exactly.

The dot on the menu bar icon is the only update signal Aura sends. She does not show banners, play sounds, or prompt you to update at launch. Check the releases page or subscribe to the GitHub release feed if you want advance notice of what is in each release before the dot appears.
